Pope Francis marks first year as church head

Pope Francis has marked his first year of papacy, to a mostly positive response. The first non-European pontiff in more than a thousand years has attempted to rescue the image of a Catholic Church mired in allegations of child abuse and corruption. Although he has drawn praise for praise for his modest lifestyle and message of equality, critics question how much of an impact he has had on the church's policy.
