Crimean parliamentary delegation asks Russian Duma to support Crimea if it decides to join Russia

STORY: A delegation of Crimean parliament members met deputies of the Russian lower house of Parliament or Duma in Moscow on Friday (March 7) and asked them to to support Crimea's decision if it decides to join Russia in a March 16 referendum.
Duma deputies welcomed the Crimean delegation, led by the region's new Moscow-installed leader Vladimir Konstantinov, with a standing ovation.
Crimea's parliament voted on Thursday (March 6) to join Russia, and its Moscow-backed government set a referendum in 10 days, in a dramatic escalation of the crisis over the Ukrainian region that drew a sharp riposte from U.S. President Barack Obama.
Obama ordered sanctions on those responsible for Moscow's military intervention in Ukraine, including bans on travel to the United States and freezing of their U.S. assets.
