"He loves only himself" - Ukrainian resident on Yanukovich address

While Viktor Yanukovich takes to the airwaves to declare he hasn't given up the fight for the Ukraine's future -- on the streets of Crimea, plenty have given up on the former President.

(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) SIMFEROPOL RESIDENT, TATIANA, SAYING:

"I think he didn't live up to the nation's trust. And what happened now is in large part his fault. And even those people who believed in him, I don't think they will support him any more."

Yanukovich said the seizure of airports by pro-Russian groups in Crimea was a perfectly "natural reaction to the action of bandits" in Kiev.

In Kiev residents mock Yanukovich's as they listen to his address on a car radio.

Yanukovich says he never instructed Ukrainian police to shoot at protesters. Just last week, more than 75 people were killed in two days of fighting.
