Pakistan calls for no more drone strikes

The use of attack drones is expected to increase in coming years as the US reduces its military spending.

Strikes by unmanned aircraft in Pakistan have been hailed as a success by some, but human rights campaigners call them a form of death penalty without trial as they often end up killing civilians.

Pakistan's government says it asked the US to stop drone attacks because they infringe on Pakistan’s sovereignty, are against basic human rights and drive extremism.

So far this year there have been no drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal areas.

Al Jazeera's Osama Bin Javaid reports from Peshawar.
