Ethiopian plane 'hijacked' and taken to Geneva

An Ethiopian airlines passenger jet has reportedly been hijacked and forced to land at Geneva airport.

The police are quoted as saying a hijacker has been arrested, no-one has been hurt and the situation is “under control”, adding that the airport was temporarily closed.

Earlier the airline said that flight ET702 which had left Addis Ababa on its way to Rome had been forced to go to Geneva and that all passengers and crew were safe.

It’s not clear who seized the aircraft or whether any demands were made.
