STORY: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Sunday visited the giant mausoleum where the embalmed body of his father lies in state.

North Korea's state-run television KRT showed Kim visiting the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun with top state officials. The visit was part of celebrations marking late leader Kim Jong-il's birthday.

In the video, Kim bowed deeply in front of statues of the his father Kim Jong-il and his grandfather Kim Il-Sung, who founded the communist state.

The mausoleum is dedicated to the two deceased members of the Kim clan.
