When something is wrong, dogs rely on humans for help. Unfortunately for a canine, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, aid didn’t come quickly.

For several days, the female pooch rested on the streets in the city, seemingly hoping someone would stop and get her veterinary help. The dog was suffering from a severe infection and flesh eating bacteria.

A good potion of the canine’s face had been consumed by the bacteria. Even though hundreds of people witnessed the dog, no one immediately stopped to offer assistance.

Thankfully two soft hearted Good Samaritans soon took notice. They understood the direness of the situation and rushed the pooch to a nearby rescue facility.

Veterinarians swiftly went to work. They administered antibiotics to the dog to help her ward off the infection. They are continuously cleaning her wounds and changing bandages.

Vets plan on conducting a biopsy to see if the canine has a tumor, but they are going to wait until she regains some strength. Currently the dog is doing well and eating on her own.

Authorities at the recue center refuse to euthanize her and are committed to doing everything they can to save her life.
