The Konzerthaus Berlin once again hosted the annual Cinema for Peace gala, where films which highlight the human condition and human values are awarded in a glitzy ceremony.

This year, a Special Honorary Award was presented by Bianca Jagger to both the late South African president Nelson Mandela and the film about his life, 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom'.

SOUNDBITE: Human rights advocate, Bianca Jagger saying (English):

"He is a hero of mine and a hero of millions of people throughout the world, a man that showed that it is possible to achieve a non-violent revolution and who stood for his principles until the very end. He was the guy to live and die for his principles."

Every year celebrities with movies at the Berlin Film Festival attend the event to raise awareness for good causes.

This year, the biggest names were Catherine Deneuve and Uma Thurman.
