Bushfires flare up in South Australia
Around 18 bushfires continued to burn across the state of Victoria in Australia's southeast although the alert level has been downgraded by authorities, local media reported.

The fire service said more than 50 homes are likely to have been destroyed and are warning yet more could still be lost as hot conditions are forecast to return this week.

Three fire officers were hurt in Kilmore, in Melbourne's north, two of them hurt by falling trees, local media said.

The Victoria fires are expected to continue burning at least until March, authorities said.

A bushfire in the Southern Flinders Ranges in South Australia is threatening lives and homes after breaking through containment lines. The fire has been burning for 29 days and temperatures higher than 40 Celsius forecast for the coming days will not help, the fire service said.
