Russian Winter Olympics kick off with minor glitch

While the Russian 2014 Winter Olympics went off with a bang --

It didn't all go off without a hitch.

One of the Olympic rings didn't light up during the opening ceremony.

But that didn't stop nearly 40,000 spectators from enjoying themselves.

This South African Olympic-attending veteran loved it.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) OLYMPIC CEREMONY AUDIENCE MEMBER, FROM SOUTH AFRICA PHIL GUTCHE, SAYING:

"I also think the final torch, lighting of the torch was, again, spectacular. We've been to a number of Olympics, and this is really one of the greatest. They did a great job."

Meanwhile, journalists covering the games were quick to take to Twitter with their accommodation woes.

A journalist from the Toronto Star tweeted this picture with the caption,"In my Sochi hotel. You're welcome to pop by and sit forlornly in my Chairs of Desolation."
