Granny driver kills 3 in botched reversal at Florida old folks' village

Geriatric genocide: A 79-year-old (and apparently handicapped) Florida woman is responsible for killing three people and leaving another four badly injured when she lost control of her SUV and reversed into a crowd of nice old people before submerging the car in a creek.
The accident occurred on Tuesday morning at the Sugar Creek Country Club: a mobile home for over 55s in the seaside town of Bradenton, Florida.
As Doreen Landstra and her husband were leaving a church service, a group of other senior worshipers had gathered for a chat.
Witnessed said Landstra backed out of the handicapped parking spot normally. It appears she then failed to switch into drive and hit the accelerator. People ran screaming in terror as the car reversed at speed into the crowd of churchgoers, mowing them down, ending lives and shattering others in blue-rinsed brutality,
The Chevrolet then shot over the lot boundary and plunged into a creek. The car park, a killing field.
Witnessed told local media Landstra believed she had the car in drive and not in reverse. Following the accident, Landstra told people on the scene that the pedal had become stuck.
Police say alcohol was not a factor in yesterdays' deadly events but Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Gregory Bueno told CNN that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
