A thief in France was recently busted after police examined evidence left on the victim’s cheek.

The unnamed suspect and an accomplice targeted a female jewelry store owner in Paris. They followed the woman home, tied her up and poured what they said was gasoline over her head.

The robbers then threatened to set her on fire if she didn’t tell them the code for the store’s alarm. She complied and one of the suspects headed to the store, leaving the victim still bound to a chair inside her home.

After the crook returned to the residence with a bag full of jewels, the duo untied her. In a compassionate moment, one of the robbers kissed the lady on the cheek before leaving.

As soon as they were out of sight, the woman contacted police and told them the bizarre story. Detectives took DNA evidence from the female’s cheek and examined the findings in the national genetic print database.

They found a match and a 20-year-old man was arrested for the crime. He later admitted to kissing the victim to make up for the traumatic ordeal. Police are still searching for the accomplice.
