TORY: A leopard injured three people after it strayed into a village in India's eastern state of Jharkhand, a forest official said on Friday.

Forest officials were unable to capture the leopard after it climbed a tree.

Villagers and children came out of their houses to watch the big cat.

Depletion of their habitat has threatened the leopards, forcing them to stray into human settlements - attacking people, poultry and livestock - and often getting killed themselves.
