"Every now and again we find events that we just have to post because they show how we are growing and fighting for equal rights as a culture. The Olympics has always been a place where countries can come together and compete without worry about world politics getting in the way. At least that is the hope anyways. Over the years, we have seem many countries make huge leaps forward in allowing previously ineligible athletes to compete for their country. Last year's summer games in London was another great example of this. So stick around and you'll see what I mean...

On July 12th of 2012 The International Olympic Committee confirmed that Saudi Arabia would be sending two female athletes to compete in the games. The first was Sarah Attar who would perform in the women's 800m, and the second was this woman, who's name I would completely botch if I attempted to pronounce it. She would be performing in the women's Judo competition. This inclusion of Saudi women in the games would mark the first time in history that there would be a female athlete competing for every single country in the games. Female athletes from Brunei and Qatar would be entering the games for the first time as well. As I mentioned earlier, acts like these show how we are evolving into an equal and accepting society. Preventing someone from participating in an event, career, or position just isn't cool anymore, and it is good to see more and more countries accepting this change and moving forward as a nation." - CLIFF
