Wynton Marsalis-Black Bottom Stomp

Black Bottom Stomp Marsalis 1994

In a second tune from the same concert in 1994 Wynton Marsalis and his traditional jazz concert band do a performance of Jelly Roll Morton's Black Bottom Stomp. Jelly recorded this on the same day in the same session on September 15 in 1926 as the Smoke House Blues.
On piano this time is piano virtuoso Marcus Roberts. He certainly plays his own version in his solo where the other musicians stay close to the 1928 arrangement. Wynton and his musicians certainly know how to read these arrangements perfectly without loosing that New Orleans jazz feeling. Great work!
