Love you though they do, it was also found that they’d rather spend their time looking at other dogs.
For the experiment, a group of dogs was brought in to look at a series of photos of people and canines on a computer screen and their eye movements measured.
Among the array each was presented, some of the faces were of family members, both human and four-legged, and others were of complete strangers.
When a photo of someone they knew popped up, the test subjects tended to gaze directly at the eyes.
In the case of being shown a shot of someone they’d never met, their focus was less fixed and they tended to survey the whole face.
Their recognition skills were also proven effective when they were shown the images upside down.
They did, however, seem to have a better time looking at other dogs, whether they knew them or not.
