Kansas man arrested for plotting suicide bombing

A Kansas man was arrested Friday for allegedly plotting a suicide bombing at the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport in Kansas.

Police say the aviation technician worked at the airport and planned to detonate a car bomb there and die as a martyr during the explosion.

Terry L. Loewen was arrested Friday morning at the airport and faces three charges including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and providing support to foreign terrorist association. If convicted he faces life in federal prison.

Officials say the suspect had been under investigation since this summer when he made statements he was resolved to commit an act of violent jihad against the United States.
