Mazda 626 - Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor Cleaning

How to clean the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. This sensor is found in 1993-2002 Mazda 626, MX-6, and Ford Probe all using the 2.0L (4-cylinder) automatic transmission. It is an exposed hotwire type MAF sensor. The I4 manual transmission has a slightly different MAF. The V6 version of these vehicles use a VAF which is a completely different design.
