Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is an upcoming free-to-play digital collectible card game from Blizzard Entertainment. Announced at the Penny Arcade Expo in March 2013, the game is currently in a closed beta with the open beta release sometime during December 2013. It will be initially available on Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, with an iPad version available later, and then expanding to iPhone and Android platforms in the middle of 2014.

There are currently 381 cards in the game, with more to be added later; booster packs can either be earned in-game or bought. Each pack comes with five random cards, including at least one "rare". Players can choose one of nine "heroes" which are similar to the classes in World of Warcraft. These classes are Mage, Priest, Warlock, Paladin, Warrior, Druid, Hunter, Rogue and Shaman. The game is based around 1v1 matches and will operate through Blizzard's Battle.net. There are currently no plans for cards to be traded between players.

The Arena mode, which costs money or gold gained in-game to play, has the player making a deck by choosing between 3 cards until you have picked 30 and you use this deck to battle other players – each win makes your prize better, while three losses ends your Arena play. Arena decks differ from constructed decks because you can have up to four of a card instead of the regular limit of two.
