Mursi supporters face tear gas amid protests

STORY: Egyptian riot police fired tear gas to disperse a protest by supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi near a Presidential Palace in Cairo and in Giza on Friday.
Hundreds of protesters had gathered outside of the al-Qobba palace in Cairo's Heliopolis neighborhood, and were scattered into the side streets after police fired volleys of tear gas at them.
Police also fired tear gas to disperse a protest by Mursi supporters in the nearby province of Giza.
Friday's protests come amidst growing anger by both Mursi supporters and liberal activists over a controversial Protest Law adopted by Egypt's military backed government that severely restricts protest.
Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood are particularly incensed at harsh prison sentences handed out on Wednesday to 14 women and girls for taking part in a demonstration. The women were given 11 years in prison for obstructing traffic.
