Pilot falls out of plane in Tennessee, found dead in trees

A young pilot has died after falling out of his plane's cockpit in a freak mid-air disaster over southern Tennessee.

The trainee pilot and his instructor took off in good weather from Collegedale Municipal Airport...without first fastening his seat belt. They climbed in the Zodiac 601 light plane to about 2,500 ft before experiencing a sudden malfunction. The plane went into a nosedive and the canopy ripped open. The unbuckled pilot tumbled out of the cockpit.
