Turning down a marriage proposal is never an easy thing to do.

One hesitant woman in Melbourne, Australia may have to pay, quite literally, for her cold feet.

42-year-old Marie Lacombe is facing the aftermath of her scorned former friend, 65-year-old Bruce Dusting, who has sent her a bill through his attorneys, demanding $200,000. Dusting claimed to have spent that astounding sum on Lacombe during their time together.

However the baffled woman claimed they never had a romantic relationship. The pair reportedly met in a dance class that Lacombe was teaching.

They became friends and the hopeful man spent a ton of money on Lacombe and her kids, which included dental visits and shopping sprees. Eventually Dusting decided to propose, but he was quickly shot down.

Unfortunately for Lacombe, Dusting was keeping track of every cent given to her. She admitted to accepting a $25,000 loan but said everything else was given to her out of kindness..or so she thought.

Lacombe also claimed to have worked without pay as Dusting’s office assistant, which she viewed as an even exchange for the gifts received.
