The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has directed MQM’s Rabita Committee to select candidates for local bodies election purely on merit rather than nepotism and favoritism.
Mr. Hussain expressed these views while addressing the Rabita Committee at the Nine Zero. He added that MQM is a movement which has emanated from the middle class and the poor. It believes in a meritocratic system from its inception.
He said, “MQM does not sell tickets. It does not awards party tickets for election on the basis of wealth, favoritism and nepotism. It has awarded party tickets to candidates on the basis of merit since 1987 in all the elections it participated.”
Mr. Hussain said that loyal party workers are the backbone of movement. He added that these workers have rendered supreme sacrifices for the movement’s struggle against injustices. We remember them.
He has directed all the zones and sectors to start preparations for the local bodies elections and prove once again that MQM’s workers can work in difficult conditions for their cause and mission.
