A Florida man, who seemingly took his eyes off the road while driving a moped, has died after hitting a speed limit sign head on.

When it comes to driving any kind of vehicle, it can only take a split second for things to go horrifically wrong. A major focus in accident prevention, ofcourse is keeping your eyes on the road at all times while the vehicle is in motion - regardless of the type of vehicle. A man who seemingly took his eyes off the road while driving a moped, has died after hitting a speed limit sign head on.

Originally from Lake City, 30-year-old Willie Lee Anderson, Jr., was reported to be in Myrtle Beach for a weekend visit with a friend. Around 4 p.m. in the afternoon, witnesses on North Ocean Boulevard say it looked as though Anderson got distracted gazing at the ocean and didn’t seem to notice the moped drifting off the road. His moped hit the curb and kept going on the curb for approximately 20 feet before it fell to the right. Anderson flew off the moped and crashed his head into a speed limit sign.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge reported that Anderson died at the local hospital from resulting head and neck injuries.

Police confirmed there was nothing wrong mechanically with the moped that would have caused the accident.
