A 29-year-old man died on Thursday at a Houston airport after firing a gun into the air and then killing himself as he was shot at by a Homeland Security agent, according to reports.
On Wednesday Carnell Moore wrote two cryptic messages on his Facebook wall saying: "This Life Will Crash Tomorrow!" and "I recently had the chance of staring death in the face, and she was beautiful," according to Houston CBS affiliate KHOU.
On Thursday at around 1:35 pm, Moore walked into Houston's Bush International Airport Terminal B armed with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun and fired at least two shots into the air, KHOU reported.
People at the airport starting running and hiding. One witness told KHOU: "There was a bunch of people screaming, a bunch of people running, people coming down the escalator the wrong way getting away from it, leaving their bags on the thing."
A Homeland Security agent who heard the shots from his office went to confront the gunman. After the agent challenged him, Moore pulled out another weapon and pointed it at himself. Both opened fire and Moore died at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted on Friday, ABC reported.
In Moore's truck parked outside the airport police later found a rifle and a suicide note saying he killed himself because: 'the monster within was getting stronger."
The airport's terminal was shut down for several hours and passengers were sent to other terminals, the Houston Airport System said.
