Scientists have found the first planet beyond the solar system which is the same size, and has the same proportions of iron and rock, as Earth. Kepler-78b, named after the Kepler space telescope that discovered it, is 400 light years away. It orbits very close to its host star, completing an orbit in 8.5 hours.
