Lou Reed dead at 71, Brown arrested for assault

Lou Reed died on Sunday (October 27). The pioneering songwriter and musician behind the Velvet Underground died at his home in Long Island, New York following complications from a liver transplant he had earlier this year. After his time with the Velvet Underground, Reed moved on to a successful solo career, earning fame for his hits like "Walk on the Wild Side," and bringing alternative and punk rock to the mainstream. He was 71.

Chris Brown was arrested and charged with assault in Washington D.C., after getting into a fight with a man outside a hotel. The singer appeared before a judge on Monday (October 28), pled not guilty and was released without bail. Brown was ordered to stay away from the victim, who reportedly suffered a broken nose.
