Malaysian cop arrested for smuggling crystal meth into Indonesia

A 49-year-old Malaysian police officer was arrested on Monday for allegedly bringing crystal methamphetamine into Indonesia. The suspect arrived at Polonia International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra from Kuala Lumpur on Monday afternoon. He was questioned by immigration officers for suspicious behaviour before finding 0.5 grams of crystal meth in his wallet. The suspect and the drugs have been handed over to the National Narcotics Agency in Jakarta for further investigation.
It was reported that a Malaysian diplomat claimed the consulate general in Medan should have been informed about the incident before journalists, as it is a state matter.
