Aurora Borealis HD timelapse, Norway and Finland, February 2013

During the 2 weeks that I spent in the high Arctic regions of Northern Lapland and Finnmark, I was blessed by daily displays of the Northern Lights. Here is a timelapse video of the mighty Aurora Borealis. All the photos were taken in the Inari region in Finland (Inari, Utsjoki, Angeli, Nellim, Karigasniemi) and along the Norwegian coast (Kirkenes, Lakselv, Alta).

I travelled about 4500km during this trip, literally chasing the auroras trying to find clear skies to enjoy the show. The temperatures ranged from a mild -2°C along the Norwegian coast, to a freezing -35°C for the coldest nights in Finland. Nonetheless the equipment kept on working, simply using more extra batteries than usually.

I used a Canon EOS-1D X with the 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens for all the pictures.
