It's a widely held belief that our war on drugs has failed. In a recent incident that validates that sentiment, a young boy brought in a stack of cash and baggies of what has now been identified as crack cocaine to a Philadelphia public school.

Authorities at the Thomas Mifflin School contacted police at about 10 am on a recent Tuesday. According to law enforcement, a 4-year-old boy arrived at school with $173 in cash and began showing the money to a friend.

The classmate thought something was wrong and alerted a nearby teacher. She approached the 4-year-old which is when he reportedly handed over narcotics that he was holding in his pocket.

According to investigators, the child was carrying eight zip lock bags in total, which were filled with crack. A K-9 was dispatched to the scene to search the classroom and the young boy was transported to the hospital to make sure he didn’t ingest any of the drugs he had been carrying.

Counseling services have been offered to the boy. Police interviewed the child’s mother and were reportedly planning to question a male friend of the family.
