Real-life 'Hurt Locker': Bomb expert defuses suicide vest strapped to hog-tied bomber
  • 11 years ago
In a case of life imitating art an Afghan bomb disposal expert on Sunday defused a bomb strapped to a man wearing a suicide vest in a scene reminiscent of Oscar-winning film 'The Hurt Locker', according to Britain's The Independent.

A man wearing a suicide vest was captured and tied up by Afghan security forces before he could detonate the device in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.

The Afghan bomb disposal unit was called to defuse the bomb. A bomb technician approached the subdued man and defused the bomb using only a pair of wire cutters.

The suspect was later taken in for questioning by Afghan soldiers.

Afghan forces thwarted another attempted suicide attack in Kabul the same day when a man dressed in military uniform was shot dead.
