Gunfire following car chase forces brief U.S. Capitol lockdown

An injured policeman is taken from the scene in a Medevac helicopter, as the U.S. Capitol was locked down briefly Thursday after gunshots were fired outside the building.

The shooting rattled the U.S. capital just three weeks after 12 people were killed in a shooting spree at the U.S. Navy Yard, about 1.5 miles or 2.4 km from the Capitol.

A Female suspect --- who according to a U.S. Official -- originally tried to ram through White House security barricades, was killed by police.

Peter Plocky witnessed the incident.

"I don't know what statue, but it's you know the House side of the Capitol, and it's right before there's a side road that goes up the side and there's a barricade there, it's right there and so the car goes screaming past the fountain, followed by the police cars shortly after the shots were fired.
