Numerous people were treated for injuries after the front landing gear on a Southwest Airlines flight 345 collapsed while landing at LaGuardia Airport on Monday. No fatalities were reported. One hundred and forty-five passengers and five crew members were on board the aircraft when flight landed in New York.

At least ten people were treated at the scene, while six people were hospitalized for serious injuries.

The Boeing 737-700 aircraft landed at around 5:40 p.m., with witnesses saying the front landing geared appeared "out of shape, like it wasn't supposed to land that way." Upon hitting the runway, the nose gear collapsed, causing the front underside section of the plane to hit the ground and skid forward, causing sparks.

At least one passengers told told reporters feeling a bang upon impact and a feeling of the plane bouncing back before the aircraft skidded down the runway.

The plane continued traveling forward roughly halfway down the 7,000-foot runway before stopping in a grassy area off to the side.

Authorities are still looking into why the landing gear failed.
