Multiple car accidents in 24 hours in Victoria, several dead

A string of motor accidents which occurred in the 24 hours since the morning of July 31 have left several people dead in Australia's Victoria state, according to local reports.
A woman driving a Toyota twin-cab ute lost control of the vehicle on a bend of Old Sale Road, near Moe, around 7:00 a.m. yesterday, according to The Age. The ute was travelling west and then hit a gum tree and rolled. The accident killed the passenger, a man in his late teens or early 20s, reports said. The woman is being treated at Latrobe Valley Regional Hospital for shock.
A man in his 80s was killed after his vehicle collided with another at the intersection of Quambatook and Ultima-Lake Boga roads, near Swan Hill, at around 11:20 a.m. yesterday, according to The Age. The man was thrown from his vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, believed to be a man in his 20s, was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car while crossing the South Gippsland Highway in Korumburra just before 6 p.m. yesterday evening. The victim was a man in his 20s. Emergency services arrived at the site of the accident, but were unable to revive the man. Police are investigating the accident, according to the Herald Sun, and the male driver is assisting them.
Two brothers riding a motorcycle near Orbost in East Gippsland ran into a tree around 6:00 p.m. yesterday, according to the Herald Sun. The driver of the motorcycle, a 29-year-old man, had injuries to his leg and was taken to hospital. He later suffered shock and a heart attack and died in the night, according to ABC.
Two cars collided on the Bacchus Marsh-Geelong Road in Bacchus Marsh at about 7:00 a.m. today, when one vehicle swerved out of the lane and into oncoming traffic, according to The Age. Both drivers were men and one died on the spot. The other driver was taken to hospital and is in a serious, but stable condition.
The state's year to date provisional road toll now sits at 135, according to The Age.
