Rare bomb attack in Iraqi Kurdish capital kills six

At least six civilians are killed in a rare bomb attack in the Iraqi Kurdish capital of Arbil.

Militants launched a coordinated suicide and car bomb attack on the headquarters of the security services, in the first major assault there since 2007.

"Today is a sad day in Kurdistan. Many many innocent people, civilians and security personnel, were killed and injured in the attack. Actually, as Kurds, we have been targeted for decades, and today's act is a part of those bad things because the Kurdish region made important strides towards prosperity, so this action aims to frighten people.

The relative security in the region has attracted some of the world's largest oil companies including ExxonMobil and Chevron.
