Florida car chase: innocent woman killed after gunman flees double murder in Miami

Florida car chase: innocent woman Maritza Medina was killed when murderer Antonio J. Feliu -- fleeing the police after shooting to death Vivian Gallego Martinez and her daughter Anabel Benitez -- T-boned her car at a highway intersection in Miami.

The speeding SUV was hotly pursued by both local and county police as well as SWAT teams when it ran a red light and ploughed into another car.
The force of the collision sent both vehicles spinning wildly more than 100 metres. Maritza Medina was ejected from her vehicle in the crash, her body thrown metres from her car.
The fleeing felon was Antonio J. Feliu who had just shot to death his ex girlfriend and her adult daughter in their home.
He escaped in an SUV and was hotly pursued by mixed police forces who suspected the man may be armed and harbouring a hostage.
At the Weston town intersection. Feliu ran a red light, T-boning into Medina's car.
Police were not immediately able to retrieve Medina's body for safety reasons.
After blowing out the rear window of Feliu's car with a rubber air baton, it became apparent the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The highway in both directions was closed for several hours. Medina's neighbours in the Weston district were shocked at the needless passing of a much loved neighbour.
Police defended their car pursuit of Feliu saying he had committed felonies of a scale that warranted car chase.
