Some United Nations inspectors, in Syria to determine whether forces have used chemical weapons in the civil war, prepared to depart from the country on Friday (August 30), while the rest of the team were set to continue their investigations in the Damascus suburbs.

U.N. High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Angel Kane, would leave Syria on Friday, a source told Reuters. Kane could be seen entering a UN vehicle loaded with her luggage.

The head of a U.N. chemical weapons investigation team, Ake Sellstrom of Sweden, was also seen talking to an inspector while seated in one of the departing cars.
