J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) is expected to report earnings on August 20 for the fiscal quarter ending July 2013. The consensus EPS forecast for the quarter is a loss of $1.09, compared with an EPS loss of 37 cents in the same year-ago period, according to analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research.The retailer continued to make headlines on Tuesday, after activist investor Bill Ackman resigned from JCPenney's board after days of ongoing conflict as the company tries to appoint a new CEO.“At this time, I believe that the addition of two new directors and my stepping down from the board is the most constructive way forward for J.C. Penney and all other parties involved,” said Ackman in a statement.Shares of J.C. Penney Company, Inc. edged up 0.17 to $13.34 in premarket trade, but fell 3.12 percent to $12.76 in morning trade.SINA Corp. (Nasdaq: SINA) rose over 2 percent a day after the company's second quarter earnings beat Wall Street estimates.Shares of SINA Corp rose 2.73 percent to $82.54 in morning trade.Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM), the parent company of KFC and Pizza Hut, announced on Monday same-store sales in China fell 13 percent in July.Shares of Yum! Brands, Inc. fell 3.26 percent to $72.00 in morning trade.The Dow Jones industrial average fell 60.88 points, or 0.39 percent, at 15,358.80. The S&P 500 Index was down 4.79 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,684.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 13.86 points, or 0.38 percent, at 3,656.02.
