The Korean media is currently under some serious scrutiny after filming a man jumping off the Mapo Bridge over the Han River in Seoul. The most troubling aspect is that the film crew was there during the jump.

The bridge jumper, who is being referred to as Mr. Son was a men’s rights advocate who was a member of an organization in South Korea called Man of Korea.

On July 25th, Son posted a warning on his Twitter account that he was going to jump to his death if he didn’t raise money. He was basically putting his life on the line in an effort to raise funds for the men’s right group he belonged to. The organization was reportedly short on cash and drowning in debt.

One cameraman from a state-run broadcaster and two men from Man of Korea were on scene during the stunt and did nothing to stop the man from jumping. The cameraman claimed Mr. Son said he was not committing suicide beforehand.

The cameraman said that he did call the emergency workers prior to and after the jump. Law enforcement may charge fellow Man of Korea members with assisted suicide.
