Upscale men’s fashion experts and blogs are now touting a style of denim pants known as dad jeans.

Dad jeans are classified by having a high waist, a washed light blue color, and a loose, or relaxed fit.

Women’s fashion magazine Glamour responded to the recent shift in fashion by listing the tell tale signs of dad jeans, and saying that even though President Obama has been seen sporting them, dad jeans are not flattering to the men wearing them.

Musician and fashion mogul Kanye West was also spotted wearing them at several events.

Retailers such as Supreme, J. Press New York Street, Billy Reid and A.P.C. have started selling dad jeans.

They are in contrast to the popular skinny jeans, or as Brad Bennett from Well Spent, a men’s style blog called it: the “now-ailing Americana-urban woodsman trend…”

Bennett said: “Dad jeans are pretty much the total opposite, and thus, a quick and easy way for people who don’t want to be associated with the lumberjack look to distance themselves.”
