ميانمار لا تزال المصالحة لها من المستغرب مع الغرب، كما تم استلام الرئيس ثين سين رسميا في باريس.
جعلت ثين سين وعود جريئة هذا الأسبوع، قائلا ان وقف اطلاق النار مع الجماعات المسلحة هو ممكن في غضون أسابيع وأنه سيتم الافراج عن جميع السجناء السياسيين قبل عام 2014. وألغت أيضا قوة أمنية الحدود، والتي تم ينحى عليها باللائمة في قتل مئات من الروهينجا مسلم في حملة إعلانية للإرهاب والتمييز.
Myanmar continues its surprising reconciliation with the West, as President Thein Sein has been officially received in Paris.
Thein Sein has made bold promises this week, saying that a ceasefire with guerrilla groups is possible within weeks and that all political prisoners would be freed before 2014. He has also abolished a frontier security force, which has been blamed for killing hundreds of Muslim Rohingyas in a state-sponsored campaign of terrorism and discrimination.
