Los Angeles police braced for a third night of unruly protests as citizens angry at the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin took to the streets to voice their anger.
In front of Los Angeles city hall on Tuesday (July 16), a peaceful group of marchers carried signs saying "no justice, no peace" featuring a black and white image of the dead youth.
Groups of protesters Monday (July 15) were arrested for causing a public disturbance in the Crenshaw district in south Los Angeles after several of them blocked traffic and broke storefront windows.
Police increased their presence in that location on Tuesday (July 16) in an effort to prevent lawlessness for a third night.
Many of the people gathered in the Crenshaw district expressed hopes that the night would remain peaceful, for fear that violence would overshadow their anger at the verdict.
