STORY: The Egyptian city of Suez was calm on Tuesday but tanks and soldiers could be seen patrolling the streets and training as the army increased its presence after more violent clashes overnight.

The Red Sea city of Suez at the mouth of the Suez Canal has seen street battles between supporters of Egypt's President Mohamed Mursi and those calling for him to step down for the past few nights.

The 'Rebel' movement calling on Mursi to step down saw millions of Egyptians take to the streets of cities nationwide on Sunday ) and numbers were again high on Tuesday in Cairo, Alexandria as well as in a number of smaller cities.

On Monday Egypt's armed forces gave Mursi a virtual ultimatum to share power, giving feuding politicians 48 hours to compromise or have the army impose its own road map.
