Thousands of Wild Dolphins Engulf Dana Point Whale Watching Boat

A mega pod of thousands of Common Dolphins engulfed Captain Dave's Dolphin and Watching Whale Safari catamaran while stampeding off the coast of Orange County, California.

Southern California has the greatest density of dolphins per square mile than anywhere on earth. This includes nearly 450,000 Common Dolphins like the animals in this video. Stampedes occur occasionally and this behavior can happen without warning or anything frightening them. Dana Point is one of the best places in the world to see one of these large mega pods that can number in herds of up to 10,000.

Elated whale watching passengers, some of whom had never seen dolphin before, were able to experience the graceful dolphin porpoising through the water at high speeds above the water and below the water from our Underwater Viewing Pods. In the Eye to Eye Underwater Viewing Pods whale watchers are able to BE one of the pod and feel what's it like to swim with wild dolphins without having to get wet.
