An absorbing match, delayed by rain in the first instance, saw England defend 169 all out by limiting New Zealand to 159 for eight to qualify for the semi-finals of Champions Trophy 2013 and New Zealand hoping Australia can do them a favour.

In the game itself, Alastair Cook with 64 and Joe Root with 38 top scored for England while Kyle Mills and Mitchell McClenaghan shared seven wickets before England's bowlers James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan and Ravi Bopara were excellent.

Despite Kane Williamson hitting 67 and Corey Anderson 30 New Zealand fell short, and there was some controversy when what looked like a Stuart Broad no ball to dismiss Williamson was not given and the batsman had to depart.
