A man from Rotterdam saved a 19-year-old woman from drowning in the Maas river. The male hero is 90 years old.

The acts of Good Samaritans can sometimes get overshadowed by the tragic reports we read and hear about on a regular basis.

But there’s one man in the Netherlands whose actions won't be easily forgotten. He is now thought of as a hero.

The male saved a 19-year-old woman from drowning in the Maas river. The most amazing aspect in the successful life-saving effort is that the man is 90 years old.

He had been fishing when he heard a loud splash and a piercing scream. Reacting solely on instinct and adrenaline, he jumped in the water to save the female, who had fallen from a boat mooring.

Both were said to be fine following a precautionary hospital visit. The elderly hero comically stated “It was my duty. Some people freeze with shock when something like this happens but not me. I would do the same thing again. But it was just as well she was not too fat.”
