Russian commuters are evacuated from the Moscow metro after a fire - the second to break out in the underground transport network within a matter of hours.

Eighteen people in total were sent to hospital after both fires on Wednesday.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to evacuate passengers and douse the flames.

The blazes sparked in the same area, causing transport chaos and halting the metro's red line.

The first fire occurred during Moscow's morning rush hour - forcing over 4,000 people to be evacuated.

This man says the smoke in the tunnels was unbearable.

It is not yet known what caused the two fires or whether they were connected.
