US teen faces bomb plot charges

Police in the U.S. state of Oregon are poised to charge a 17-year-old over an alleged plot to bomb this school.

The West Albany High School student could face a range of counts including attempted murder.

Police say explosive devices were found at his home after a tip-off.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CAPTAIN ERIC CARTER OF THE ALBANY POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYING:

"This was far beyond just teenage curiosity. These (devices) would have caused significant damage, injury or death had they been detonated in the right circumstances."

District attorney John Haroldson says the alleged plot appeared to have been meticulously planned.

"That plan required a lot of time, energy, and process in developing the strategy and the equipment to carry out the crime."

Some parents said they were told nothing by the school.
