A software company seeks hundreds of autistic hires.
Believing that “innovation comes from the edges”, the German software company SAP has begun actively seeking autistic hires.
They recognize the unique talents those with the condition can posses and believe they are highly valuable in information technology.
Even though people with autism often have difficulties with social interaction, many exhibit heightened intelligence and attention to detail.
SAP’s Bangalore location recently hired six employees with autism and since reported better productivity in the software testing department where they work.
SAP’s goal is that by 2020, 1 percent of their employees worldwide be people with autism.
To get there they’re working with Specialisterne, an agency that specializes in placing autistic candidates in tech jobs.
Specialisterne’s stated mission is to, “…harness the special characteristics and talents of people with autism and use them as a competitive advantage, and as a means to help people with autism secure meaningful employment.”
