Plant and food waste is becoming a widespread problem. A butcher in Seattle opted to go the sustainable route in an unusual way.

After combining marijuana and meat, the owner of BB ranch is selling pot-fed pigs. The shop teamed up with a local medical marijuana grower, Top Shelf Organic, and nearby Bucking Boar Farm.

BB Ranch explains the process on their website: “Now that pot is legal in Washington State cannabis farmers are having the same problem other farmers have always had. What to do with the parts of the marijuana plant that weren’t good for, well, pot! It turns out that all those useless stems, and oversized leaves are great feed for pigs so the folks at Top Shelf Organic are donating their waste to the ranchers.”

The business is selling the cannabis infused pig meat to customers in the form of roasts and bacon. The flavor is described as ‘savory’.
Pot is becoming popular in the food industry. Recently, a chip shop chain, located in the Netherlands planned to debut weed flavored mayonnaise.
